Button Cannulas for Wound Irrigation
Button cannulas are typically used for irrigating wounds that are difficult to access and require regular cleaning and disinfection. The opening at the rounded tip of the button cannula allows for precise application of liquid medications or suctioning of secretions. Depending on the purpose, wound channel, and its location, button cannulas for topical wound irrigation are available in different sizes and configurations. Whether single-use or reusable, sterile or non-sterile — button cannulas are highly versatile. While easily accessible, straight wound tracts can usually be irrigated effortlessly with a straight button cannula, curved button cannulas are better suited for angled or irregular wound cavities. The working length of the cannula also varies depending on the depth of the wound channel. Common lengths include, for example, 70 mm or 100 mm.
